Enhanced torso movement – natural, grounded walk
Measured stride – no torso movement
A walk cycle animation created in Toon Boom Harmony, featuring a character designed by Leonora Ferguson. I rigged the character and animated two versions of a walk that reflects the character’s age and personality.
Version 1: Walk cycle enhanced with subtle torso movement to reflect weight shifts, step impact, and create a more natural, grounded motion.
Version 2: Standard walk cycle with clean leg and arm mechanics.
Unlike a typical walk, this cycle reflects how an older person might move — slightly shorter strides, a measured pace, and realistic weight distribution — while still maintaining correct mechanics and readable animation.
Both versions are looped to clearly illustrate the differences and demonstrate how small adjustments in body mechanics and performance choices can significantly impact realism and character believability.
